This is a huge game for both teams: they are No. 2 and No. 3 in the MAC East standings, and the winner will take over sole possession of second place.

Because of the significance of this matchup for both teams, and also because of the some recent trends with both teams, I like the Redhawks to cover the spread here in Free Football Picks.

Thirteen is just a bit too much for such a key conference game, especially when you factor in the way the two teams have been playing of late.

The Redhawks are 4-5 straight up and 5-4 against the point spread this season, and while those aren’t great numbers, the team is trending upward. Miami opened the season with four straight losses, which means the Redhawks are 4-1 SU in their last five, and have won two straight. Temple, on the other hand, is 5-4 SU and 6-3 SU and won its first two of the season, but has lost its last two and three of its past five.

And when the teams last met on Nov. 23 last season, the Redhawks routed the Owls 23-3, easily covering as an 8.5-point home underdog.

Another betting angle to this game is the total. There is definitely and under trend here, with four of the last five staying under the total, as well as seven of Temple's last eight overall and four of Temple's last six at home.
